Stemco Brake Drum
The Stemco Brake Drum absorbs braking force by providing a friction surface for brake shoe contact. When the brakes are applied, shoes press outward against the inner drum surface, converting vehicle motion into heat. This interaction slows wheel rotation and reduces vehicle speed. The drum rotates with the wheel assembly and experiences repeated contact during braking events. Heat disperses through the drum body between applications. Brake drums are inspected and serviced during scheduled brake maintenance. The Stemco 91265B is used on axles rated at 23,000 lbs.
