When the vehicle encounters changes in road conditions or cargo weight, air pressure inside the spring adjusts through the suspension system to absorb vertical motion. This allows the axle and frame to move relative to each other without metal-to-metal contact. The spring compresses and extends repeatedly as the vehicle travels, helping isolate the chassis from road input. Air supply and exhaust are managed by the suspension controls. The Goodyear 1R12-375 is used in air suspension systems that rely on air volume changes to manage ride behavior.
