When the ignition is activated, the pump draws fuel upward and sends it through the delivery line while the sender tracks fuel quantity. The assembly remains submerged and functions continuously as fuel demand changes. It is used on in-tank applications for 1991 Ford E-350 and 1988–1997 Ford F53 vehicles. Fuel level data is transmitted through the sender as fuel volume rises or falls inside the tank. This combined operation allows fuel delivery and level monitoring to occur from a single in-tank location. The Motorcraft PFS48 supports fuel delivery and level feedback from within the tank.
