The Meritor Air Brake Automatic Slack Adjuster adjusts the brake by incrementally responding to lining wear during repeated brake applications. Each time braking force is applied, internal components track movement and make small corrections that maintain consistent shoe-to-drum spacing. This adjustment occurs gradually across normal driving cycles, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention. The unit connects directly to the brake camshaft, translating the force from the air chamber into controlled rotation. Visual checks and stroke measurements can be performed externally during routine brake inspections. Built with a 28-spline interface and a 6-inch arm, the Meritor R801074 integrates into standard heavy-duty brake systems.
