The Fontaine Fifth Wheel Spring Kit ensures positive engagement of the jaw mechanism during coupling and uncoupling events. Designed for Fontaine 6000 Series fifth wheels with manual pull operation, this kit supplies the high-tensile springs that load the jaw, secondary lock, and locking plunger. As spring tension weakens over time, vibration and trailer movement can interrupt full jaw travel and lead to partial engagement at the throat. These replacement springs are formed from heat-treated spring steel to resist loss of tension under repeated articulation and lateral trailer loads. Proper spring force restored by the Fontaine KIT-SPRING kit allows the jaw and secondary lock to reach full travel so the locking plunger seats cleanly during coupling instead of hanging short or requiring repeated pull checks.
