Kysor E-Viscous Engine Cooling Fan Clutch
Constant fan noise drains fuel and sanity, so the Kysor E-Viscous Engine Cooling Fan Clutch regulates cooling fan operation more precisely than traditional on/off clutches. This electronically controlled unit varies fan speed based on cooling demand signals from the engine control system rather than engaging at full speed every cycle. By allowing the fan to operate only as needed, the Kysor 10028363 clutch reduces continuous drag on the accessory drive while maintaining cooling capacity. The viscous coupling provides gradual engagement instead of the abrupt lockup associated with air-actuated clutches. This unit is configured as a replacement for Freightliner applications using Cummins engines and interfaces with existing electronic controls. In operation, fan engagement is less abrupt and overall fan runtime is reduced compared to mechanical designs.
